Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy

The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy contains slightly increased levels of total tau protein (t-tau) and very slightly increased levels of phosphorylated tau (p-tau) protein, but clearly decreased levels of the amyloid beta42 (Abeta42) protein and amyloid beta 40 (Abeta40) protein.

This pattern of CSF abnormalities discriminates Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy form other dementia disorders.

Our laboratory offers fast and efficient analysis of the following compounds in CSF for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease:
- t-tau protein

- p-tau protein

- Amyloid beta40 protein

- Amyloid beta42 protein

In addition we offer an assay to analyse Amyloid beta protein oligomers in CSF
